Welcome to Colour and Shape

A new way of connecting and supporting families on the adventure of faith.

What is Colour and Shape?

Colour and Shape is a community of parents
exploring how to live a joy-filled life of faith that creates sacred space in the home and celebrates the liturgical seasons of the church creatively and sustainably.

Here we can discover our family’s unique rhythm of prayer, learn how to accompany our children confidently on their journey to discovering their own relationship with God, and find friends along the way to support and inspire us.

As of January 2021 Colour and Shape is in a prayer and funding partnership with The Lay Community of Saint Benedict.

But it's not just for parents!

This community is for all those supporting families on their journey of faith. The Colour and Shape online community gathers together grandparents, godparents, teachers, youth workers, clergy, children's liturgy leaders, and catechists so that we can all inspire and learn from each other.

And it's for all stages of parenthood - whether you are expecting your first child, parenting toddlers or teenagers, or wondering how to support your children's faith once they have flown the nest. Every story and experience makes this community stronger and we cannot wait to hear yours!

So what happens in here?

Colour and Shape is a private social network, available both on the web and in an app, where we can be intentional about how we spend our time, away from the distractions of other social media platforms.

Everyone has their own profile and you can share posts, images, and links to the main activity feed in a way that you will be familiar with. There are topics to follow where content will posted, creating a growing resource library in the areas of Creating Space, Celebrating the Seasons, Childhood Spirituality, Catechesis and Sacraments, and others.

We will be running the 'Parenting for Faith Course' and 'The Prayer Course' throughout the year so you can jump in when you are ready and journey alongside a group of like-minded friends.

There is a dedicated group for Children's Liturgy Leaders to share best practice and resources, with plans to expand to more groups as and when the need arises (eg. for teachers, grandparents...)

Each week there is a themed discussion question or challenge and on Wednesdays we share a Community Story offering a window into how different families walk on their journey with God.

Plus live events throughout the year, the ability to connect with other community members in your area, and a safe space to ask questions and share your own experience.

Here is a PDF Introduction to Colour and Shape that you can download and share with other friends and families. It explains the who, how, and why Colour and Shape was created...

Connect Sunday

Connect Sunday is a weekly Children's Liturgy video based around the Sunday Gospel, and it is where Colour and Shape started. It is uploaded to YouTube every Tuesday before the Sunday, so you can decide how and when to use it. The Connect Sunday videos are designed for Catholic families, parishes, and schools to use. You can find the Colour and Shape YouTube channel here >>>

So is Colour and Shape Catholic?

The Connect Sunday videos will always fit the liturgical year of the Catholic Church, and discussions around liturgy, catechesis, and sacraments will have a Catholic flavour. However, many of the resources recommended will come from other denominations, as will our members, and much of the discussion will not be specific to any one denomination (e.g. childhood spirituality, creativity and sustainability, creating sacred space and others...) All are welcome to join, and the atmosphere here is one of respect, openness, connection, and an eagerness to learn from each other.

Come on in -
We can't wait to meet you!
